A front running contender has emerged to succeed AT&T Corp’s chief executive officer Robert Allen, according to the Wall Street Journal. He is John Zeglis, an internal candidate who is currently AT&T’s vice chairman. Zeglis, 50, has been running worldwide operations at AT&T following the resignation of president and chief operating officer John Walter in July (CI No 3,205). Walter himself had been expected to succeed Allen, but failed to convince the board. A final decision on the candidate is expected by the middle of the month.
