The Tokyo District Court in Japan has ruled that Samsung Electronics has not infringed Apple’s patent, rejecting similar patent-infringement claims by the company which it won in US.
Apple’s patent lawsuit against Samsung, declaring that South Korean mobile maker had not infringed Apple’s Smartphone and tablet computer.
Japan’s ruling follows Apple’s $1bn win over Samsung for key patent case in the US last week.
A Samsung’s statement was quoted by BBC as saying: "We welcome the court’s decision, which confirmed our long-held position that our products do not infringe Apple’s intellectual property."
Tokyo District Judge Tamotsu Shoji had rejected the lawsuit filed by Apple in August, ruling that Samsung has not infringed Apple’s patents linked to synchronising music and video data between devices and servers.
In its filings, Apple has reported to claim JPY100m ($1.27m) in compensation from Samsung’s Japanese facilities and blamed it of infringing technology used to transfer music and video data.
California-based iPhone and iPad manufacturer has won an infringement case against Samsung in the US court and has won $1bn as compensation for its damages.
A jury in California court ruled that Samsung products have infringed Apple creations which included the ‘bounce-back’ feature when a user scrolls to the last image, and the text zooming ability with a tap of a finger.
The US and Tokyo legal battle follows after a court in Seoul ruled that both the parties have swiped each other’s technology and had awarded damages to both of them.
