Intel’s Havok releases free mobile 3D game engine

The tool enables to create games for mobile platforms

By CBR Staff Writer

Intel subsidiary Havok has launched a new mobile 3D game production engine Project Anarchy that allows users to create games freely for different platforms.

The game engine can be used to develop games, which are compatible with mobile operating platforms like iOS, Android, and Tizen, without commercial restrictions.

Project Anarchy comes with Havok’s Vision Engine that enables access to the company’s suite of Physics, Animation and AI tools used in franchises like Skyrim, Halo, Assassin’s Creed, Uncharted and Skylanders.

Havok’s developer relations head Ross O’Dwyer said that Project Anarchy allows game developers to freely explore gameplay ideas on mobile platforms using the same tools that console and PC developers use.

"This complete set of tools lends powerful graphics, physics and animation capabilities to mobile game development teams for free regardless of team and project size," O’Dwyer said.

Features of the tool include extensible C++ architecture, a flexible asset management system, advanced Lua debugging and customisable game samples and tutorials.

Additionally, the company plans to use community feedback to make regular product updates with Android-x86 support scheduled for release in the coming weeks.
