Informatica delivers cloud connector for Google’s Big Data analytics

Google Cloud Connector extends Informatica Cloud’s near universal connectivity

By CBR Staff Writer

Data integration software provider Informatica has joined the Google Cloud Platform Partner Program as a technology partner, delivering a cloud-based connector for Google BigQuery.

It will make it easier to automatically load data from a broad set of sources, as well as to analyse and visualise the data with dashboards.

Informatica Cloud senior vice president and general manager Juan Carlos Soto said the Google Cloud Platform Partner Program enables it to provide its customers with new applications for Cloud data integration that leverage the power of the Google Cloud Platform.

"The Google Cloud Platform offers a broad set of cloud storage, large scale computing, and big data capabilities that provides our joint customers with a quick and easy way to securely bring together on-premise and cloud data to perform big data analytics in the cloud," Soto said.

Using Informatica cloud integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) enterprises can securly move data to and from their on-premise and cloud IT systems and Google Cloud services such as Google Cloud Storage and Google BigQuery with Informatica Cloud Connector for Google Cloud.

The new Google Cloud Connector extends Informatica Cloud’s near universal connectivity to enable users to securely move cloud-based and on-premise data in databases, data warehouses and applications to and from Google Cloud.

Google Cloud Connector provides an application for both initial data loading and on-going data synchronisation to enable real-time and complete analytics. It also takes advantage of Informatica’s scalable data integration technology to move large volumes of data to the Google Cloud.

Informatica Cloud is available as a subscription and runs as a multi-tenant Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application and the Cloud iPaaS features will allow developers to embed integration capabilities into cloud and on-premise applications, including those written on Google AppEngine and other PaaS applications.

Google’s Cloud Platform products enable customers to implement cloud app offerings using Google App Engine and SQL, cloud storage applications by using Google Cloud Storage, big data applications by using Google BigQuery, Google Prediction API and large-scale computing applications by using Google Compute Engine.

The Informatica Cloud Connector for Google Cloud Storage and for Google BigQuery is available now as part of the Informatica Cloud Developer Edition with general availability in Q3 2012.
