The ValiMed verification system, developed by CDEX, uses light energy and a library of unique spectral fingerprints to validate compounded doses of high-risk medications prior to dispensing. According to Henry Ford Hospital, the technology affords it an added level of safety in the dispensing process, especially as it can also be used to validate narcotic returns as well as identify counterfeit medications.
At Henry Ford, our top priority is patient safety. The ValiMed product strengthens our dispensing process by adding another level of safety to ensure compounded medications are accurately verified and narcotic returns are properly handled in the pharmacy, said Ed Szandzik, director of pharmacy at Henry Ford Hospital.
