Search engine giant Google has dropped few more products as part of its plan to revamp its services, which includes the unpopular, archaic or unnecessary features at its online assets.
The new product extinction list includes AdSense for RSS news feeds, reward ‘badges’ in Google News and a service that allows people uploading own photo for using as a background for searches in Google.com.
Google senior engineering director Yossi Matias said in his blog that it is really important to focus or the firm ends up doing too much with too little impact.
"So today, we’re winding down a bunch more features — bringing the total to nearly 60 since we started our ‘spring’ clean last fall, Matias said.
The search giant will also strengthen online storage of data in Picasa and Drive, further allowing users to store more data for free for both services, in addition to optional pay for more capacity.
Google is planning to discontinue displaying ‘Badges’ to users for story-reading at its online news pages and with no recommended sections.
As part of the programme, Google Insights for Search was incorporated into an enhanced Google Trends service which will allow users compare search patterns in diverse places, categories and time periods at google.com/trends.
Google has also pulled off an android app, which guides users to close by locations of interest, from the Google Play online shop asthose facilities were offered in the mobile version of Google Maps.
"We want people to have a beautifully simple experience when using Google," Matias said.
"These changes will enable us to focus better so that we can do more to help improve the products that millions of people use multiple times a day."
