GO2NET BUYS SILICON INVESTOR COMMUNITY FOR $33M

Internet portal Go2Net Inc, has acquired Silicon Investor, the community site that hosts investors and analysts discussion boards about technology stocks Go2Net is paying $33m in shares for all the outstanding share of SI. It will add SI to its stocksite.com individual investor site, which together with a Java games site (playsite.com) and Metacrawler search engnie, which uses the top six search engines simultaneously, makes up its content offering. SI has about 100,000 paid members and gets more than 100 million page views a month. Stocksite gets 50,000 unique users per day at the moment. SI founders Brad and Jeff Dryer will stay on, and anticipate taking the company from its Kansas base to Go2Net’s Seattle headquarters.
