FRANCE TELECOM WINS $470M VIETNAMESE LINE INSTALLATION DEAL

By CBR Staff Writer

Newly-floated France Telecom SA has won a contract to provide the Vietnamese Post & Telecommunications carrier (VNPT) with 540,000 telephone lines in the Ho Chi Minh province. The project will take five years and the deal includes revenue sharing for 15 years. The total value of the contract to France Telecom will be $470m. The work will be carried out by its France Cables et Radio (FCR) unit. The contract follows the signing of a business cooperation contract between VNPT and France Telecom on July 25 and the French carriers believes it spells the launch of a series of contracts in the country.
