Israeli software start-up Finjan Software Ltd is making itself at home in its new Santa Clara, California headquarters. Last week it announced deals to have its Java screening software, SurfinGate, included in upcoming firewall products from six vendors, including Check Point Software Technologies Ltd, Raptor Systems Inc, and Trusted Information Systems Inc. SurfinGate examines applets destined for users on the network and allows only those that perform authorized functions to pass through. It could be used, for example, to screen out applets that write to the hard drives of network clients. The company says it will be integrating ActiveX screening technology into its product line later this quarter. It will first appear as a free upgrade to its SurfinShield desktop software and will later integrate into SurfinGate, which resides on the server.
