Ericsson to provide transmission network in New Zealand

Ericsson has signed its longest ever technology contract with New Zealand Police. The 21-year supply and support agreement will see Ericsson provide microwave radio systems, as well as transmission products and support, to help the police force build its own internal nationwide communication network.

By CBR Staff Writer

The contract builds on Ericsson’s existing relationship with the New Zealand police, in which it is supplying mobile security software to aid the organization’s stated aim of turning police cars into mobile police stations.

Ericsson also took the opportunity to announce that it had completed the upgrade of the New Zealand Police’s current telephony platform in its rural areas to Ericsson IP telephony.
