The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has granted a loan of $22.9m for the development of a telecommunications project in Bulgaria: to be implemented between 1993 and 1996, the project will involve the installation of 11 transit exchanges, an international exchange and a satellite ground station; a tender competition is to take place in November, between 48 companies including Siemens AG, Philips Electronics NV, L M Ericsson Telefon AB and Societa Italiana Telecommunica SpA, Italtel, according to the BBC Monitoring Service.
