Telefónica Digital has launched a new Infrastructure-as-a-Service application, Instant Servers, which claims to offer on-demand cloud computing virtual servers for developers, digital businesses and large enterprises.
Backed by Telefónica’s infrastructure management and services capabilities, Instant Servers are designed for mobile, enterprise, and M2M applications.
The new service will help customers benefit from the reassurance of service level agreement (SLA) of 99.996% per year backed by a financial compensation in the event of non-compliance.
Instant Servers are also claimed to achieve low operations costs allowing customers to serve more workloads per virtual machine when compared to other public cloud services.
With the new service, customers will be able to acquire, manage, monitor and control their virtual servers, acquire new servers of the size, operating system and applications they want, delete the servers they no longer need and manage the capacity of any SmartOS server or application.
It also allows customers to manage all of the variables in accordance with the demand specified at any given time without having to reboot or disconnect the server and without any additional cost.
Instant Servers’ cloud computing infrastructure is built on Joyent’s cloud infrastructure, a high-performance cloud infrastructure that powers real-time web, enterprise and mobile applications.
Telefónica Digital Cloud and M2M director Carlos Morales said the Instant Servers Telefónica Digital meet the needs of businesses that require a cloud services platform that is scalable with low latency.
"This can all be done with significant cost savings as customers only pay for the type of cloud services they require and the time they use them for," Morales said.
Instant Servers’ virtual server can automatically handle large spikes in usage or traffic and the advanced caching enables enhanced performance through improved utilisation of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM).
Further, Instant Servers runs on top of the Zettabyte File System (ZFS), enterprise grade storage and file system that delivers 100% data resiliency and integrity.
