Law firm blocks web access with Bloxx

UK law firm MAB has installed Bloxx Tru-View web filtering to ensure better control over its staff’s internet use.

By Janine Milne

MAB wanted to make sure that staff were not using the internet for non-work purposes during work hours and was also concerned about security.

“We wanted to protect our users from the high levels of malware infiltrating networks, after witnessing an increase in phishing emails and users inadvertently accessing phishing web sites,” said Sanjay Arora, MAB’s assistant IT manager.

Since installing Bloxx’s TVT-250 appliance to monitor its 240 staff across three sites, the law firm is able to monitor webmail usage, access to social networking sites or inappropriate sites.

When a uses requests a web page not in the URL database, Bloxx analyses the request and will either block it or allow it depending on whether the user has authorised access. Protection against viruses, spyware and phishing sites, as well as blocking file downloads and instant messaging, is also provided.
