Symantec has introduced Endpoint Protection 14, based on machine learning, to defeat cyber threats at endpoint.
With the innovative protection techniques, the security company claims that the solution can stop and give response to threats at the endpoint itself, no matter how the attack is launched.
According to the company, Endpoint Protection 14 is the first solution to combine essential endpoint technologies with machine learning and memory exploit mitigation in a single agent.
Symantec says that the new product is a light weight package and claims that it has 99.9% efficacy, lower rate of false positives and 70% reduced footprint compared to previous generations, thanks to cloud lookup capabilities.
Endpoint Protection 14 is the result of Symantec’s combine research with Blue Coat, which it acquired in August 2016.
At present, Symantec’s threat protection is being used by 170 million consumer and enterprise endpoints, 163 million email users, 80 million web proxy users and in total processes about 8 billion security requests across its products on a daily basis.

In 2015, Symantec reported about 430 million new malware and expects the number to rise this year.
To deal with these threats, Symantec is employing machine learning techniques in new ways. These include integration with existing infrastructure through published APIs which can enable seamless management of thousands of endpoints at several locations, across disparate operating systems and platforms.
Increased access to Symantec’s intelligent threat cloud technology can reduce daily download of updates by 70%, the company said.
Integrating with Symantec Advanced Threat Protection solution can help in detecting and neutralising stealthy threats at the endpoint with a single agent.
