Pyramid Analytics to power Microsoft Power BI Desktop

The collaboration agreement expands the existing agreement between the companies.

By CBR Staff Writer

Pyramid Analytics and Microsoft have signed a collaboration agreement to jointly develop new technologies and integrate their enterprise analytics solutions.

The deal will enable organisations to scale business intelligence (BI) initiatives, expand adoption, and share analytics content throughout the enterprise.

Pyramid Analytics offers an enterprise analytics solution that makes it easier to self-serve and share trusted BI data.

Under the agreement, some of the features of Pyramid Analytics’ solution are included in Microsoft’s Power BI Desktop product, available today.

It includes an option to publish a Power BI Desktop file to the Pyramid Analytics Server, making integration between the two easier.

The deal expands the existing cooperation between the companies under which they are providing analytics solutions to address the needs of their customers.

Pyramid Analytics co-founder and CEO Omri Kohl said: "Organisations are getting hooked to self-served data discovery, but want to expand the benefits beyond departmental or individual usage.

"Our clients come to us to scale BI adoption and share analytics content across the enterprise. Our work with Microsoft will give Power BI Desktop users the ability to publish files to an on-premises or private cloud server for broad collaboration on BI content."

Microsoft technical fellow Amir Netz said: "Pyramid Analytics brings technology that complements Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services and uses all of the features of the Microsoft BI stack."
