GoDaddy has announced the launch of its own Amazon AWS-style cloud servers and cloud applications, powered by Bitnami.
These new services are offered for individual developers, small businesses and tech entrepreneurs to easily build, test and scale cloud solutions.
GoDaddy now offers a 54-second provisioning, where virtual instances can be built, tested, cloned and re-provisioned at high speeds.
GoDaddy uses a simple but powerful API along with an easy-to-use user interface. Cloud servers give developers full control over virtual instances and include accurate in-app documentation.
The GoDaddy offering also features snapshots where users are allowed to save their configurations and launch new servers through the image in seconds, rather than starting from scratch.
This new platform is claimed to be not just user-friendly, but it also economical and offered as a ‘pay as you go’ model, which charges the user based on the usage.
The new GoDaddy cloud servers are integrated with GoDaddy products such as Domains and DNS where customers can easily manage their old and new domains and subdomains.
Cloud server customers can also have full access to multiple, public facing APIs, with the new services now being offered in 26 languages and 53 markets.
GoDaddy cloud servers and cloud applications have been built upon Bitnami open source server application deployments.
GoDaddy has built its cloud servers on OpenStack and powered by purpose built Kernal-based Virtual Machine (KVM) virtualisation.
The storage devices on the cloud servers are solid state drivers (SSDs), which provide high performance with quick input and output (I/O).
