BT CLAIMS ONLY 48,000 ARE THINKING ABOUT LEAVING

British Telecommunications Plc now says that about 48,000 employees have enquired about voluntary redundancy incentives, which is double the 24,000 positions the company wants to shed, but a far cry from the 105,000 implied by alarmist tales that half of the workforce was ready to leave (CI No 1,933).
