The out-of-court settlement reached between British Airways and American Airlines in June over alleged favouritism on their respective reservation systems (CI No 964) was thrown out by the US Department of Transportation, because it believed the two carriers would be exchanging too much information: the two have now modified their settlement and now the American Sabre system will be able to issue British Air tickets in the UK and continental Europe, and American will alter the Sabre display so that British flights are at less disadvantage.
