AT&T Corp’s new president of AT&T Mexico, Jorge Escalona told Reuter the parent is talking with Telefonos de Mexico SA and other firms about a possible joint venture to enter Mexico’s long distance market: AT&T is in no rush to find a partner because it is still waiting for the government to announce the rules under which companies can enter the long distance market when it opens for competition in 1997.
