AT&T, China Telecom to provide network application to global firms

Services include Virtual Private Network (VPN), Ethernet and unified communication solutions.

By CBR Staff Writer

AT&T has singed an agreement with China Telecom to provide advanced global network applications for multinational companies looking to increase operations in China.

Both companies signed a strategic framework agreement in 2011 to start deploying the service over interconnected networks.

Under the framework agreement, the companies will offer business-critical services including Virtual Private Network (VPN), Ethernet and unified communication offerings to ensure enhanced performance levels, lower latency and richer features.

The company expects to develop communications between China, the US and the rest of the world.

Under the agreement both the companies have also deployed a network to network interconnect (NNI) in New York and San Jose in the US. This enables China Telecom to expand its Ethernet and MPLS services to Chinese companies operating in the US and other parts of the world.

AT&T and China Telecom also formed Shanghai Symphony Telecommunications (SST) under a joint venture in 2000.
