APPLE READIES NETWORK COMPUTERS SAYS REPORT

It’s long been suspected that Apple Computer Inc was interested in moving into the Network Computer business, and speculation intensified when Steve Jobs reversed the decision to spin-off Apple’s Newton Inc division (CI No 3,242). Now the San Francisco Chronicle reckons is has chapter and verse. Apple is expected to launch its new machines in January at the Macworld Expo trade show. They will cost around $750, run the Macintosh operating system, and use the forthcoming 0.25 micron Arthur version of the PowerPC 603e chip (CI No 3,198).
