US based iPhone maker Apple is planning to unveil a mini variant of the iPad on 17 October 2012, in a bid to compete against rival companies including Amazon and Google.
Featuring 7.85-inch screen with lower resolution over the latest full-size iPad, the new mini iPad is expected to go on sale 02 November 2012.
According to Bloomberg, iPhone maker has also begun the mass production of the new mini tablet computer which is expected to have similar hardware components as in the iPad2 that was launched in 2011.
Apple revealed that the new mini iPad will be a rival to Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire that are sold at a price of about £199 and £159 respectively.
Amazon claims that its new tablet is expected to allow acquiring a higher share of the booming tablet market and support its sales of digital goods, including e-books and movies.
Google’s Nexus 7 is already available in France, Germany, Spain, Canada, the UK and the US, while the firm has also released it recently in Japan.
