Social games maker Zynga has settled trademark dispute with the developers of a ‘sex matchmaking’ app which was allegedly using some of its trademark for its ‘with friends’ family of games.
A federal judge has been sought to dismiss the case following settlement.
Bang With Friends said in a statement: "Although the terms of the settlement are confidential, Bang With Friends Inc. acknowledges the trademark rights that Zynga has in its with friends marks and will be changing its corporate name and rebranding its services in the near future."
Zynga alleged in its suit that it owns Words With Friends and Chess With Friends, while the counterpart had anonymously chosen the name ‘Bang With Friends’ for its casual sex matchmaking app.
Launched in January 2013, the app notifies Facebook friends who express interest in a sexual meet with each other.
In addition to being sued by Zynga, Bang with Friends was also pulled away from Apple’s App Store in May 2013 mainly due to its bold approach to hook-ups, while later changed its name to the more family-friendly ‘Down’.
