ZYMOS LICENCES INTEL TO SECOND SOURCE ITS IBM AT CLONING KIT

By CBR Staff Writer

With IBM no longer an investor, Intel Corp is getting deeper and deeper into supporting alternatives that reduce the need for users to convert to PS/2, and its latest move is to sign to manufacture and market the POACH PC On A Chip sets developed by Zymos Corp, Sun-nyvale, California. Under Intel’s banner the AT and ATB versions of the POACH for producing clones of IBM’s AT will come out as the Intel 82X3X multifunction peripheral series. The AT set provides the basis of a 12MHz no-wait-state AT-alike, which is claimed to equal a 16MHz 80286 machine with one wait state.
