Zymos Corp, Sunnyvale, California has signed a letter of intent with another Australian technology company, this one confusingly called Austek Microsystems Pty Ltd, to sell the Aussie’s A38152 Microcache as part of the Zymos POACH chip set for Intel 80386 based systems. Since the 386 requires a cache controller to achieve cost-effective high per formance, all AT chip sets will ul-timately need one, says Austek president Denis Redfern. The A3852 Microcache is an integrated cache controller which maximises perform ance of Intel 80386 systems that use low-cost main memory chips. It uses a four-way set associative ar chitecture to achieve maximum syst em performance. Austek Microsyst ems designs proprietary system-lev-el VLSI components and, privately held, was founded in 1984 by a team of computer designers, component technologists and CAD specialists.
