ZYCAD SHIPS ITS CIRCUIT DESIGN ACCELERATOR HARDWARE TO LSI LOGIC

By CBR Staff Writer

Zycad Corp, St Paul, Minnesota, has shipped its first custom hardware accelerators to LSI Logic Corp, in Milpitas, California under the joint development agreement between the two companies. The spacial function accelerators are designed to enhance LSI Logic’s software-based integrated circuit design capability, and Zycad says that it is the first time it has developed a customised version of its Logic Evaluator. The agreement gives LSI Logic exclusive worldwide marketing rights to the custom simulation accelerator, which speeds design simulation by a claimed hundreds of times compared with a general-purpose computer. The simulation accelerators will be installed in several LSI Logic design centres, and be available to the CMOS specialist’s customers in the second quarter.
