ZTE, a provider of telecommunications equipment and network offerings, together with Qualcomm, has introduced a new 3G smartphone ZTE Bingo, which adopts Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform (BMP).

The new smartphone also provides support for Adobe Flash and terminal functions such as touch screen, multimedia, window management, open platform scalability and extended support for local application development.

According to ZTE, the new Bingo is equipped with an accelerator and supports HSDPA 7.2Mbps download speed. It adopts a new UI that supports application development and multi-touch functionality and can be built in MSN, Google map, Facebook and other third party applications. In addition, it is also equipped with 5 million/300,000-pixel dual cameras, a 3.2-inch touch screen and A-GPS positioning.

ZTE said that it has assembled European-specific strategies and R&D teams, a service platform development centre, a special ID design department, and comprehensive feedback and after-sales support programs for European consumers.

Lin Qiang, president of mobile phone operation department at ZTE, said: “With the development of the communication industry, smartphones will become more popular. Goldman Sachs analyst shows that smartphone sales will grow by 38% in 2010. In Europe and even worldwide, smartphones will become a very important development direction for ZTE in 2010.”
