ZTE roadmaps mobile network infrastructure evolution

Network solution vendors are urged to develop broader and more integrated products.

By CBR Staff Writer

The evolution of mobile network infrastructure will see smarter users, devices and data apps force operators to move to new network architectures in order to provide on-demand services to subscribers.

Challenges faced by operators include struggles to generate revenue from increasing data consumption. The data consumption landscape could be further complicated with the convergence between information and communications technology as well as the rise of the Internet of Things.

The Mobile – Information and Communication (ICT) Era white paper asked network solution vendors to develop broader and more integrated products as well as services that unite information and telecommunications technologies.

IDC analyst Sathya Atreyam said: "Mobile network operators continue to wrestle with a host of business, network and technological challenges. 4G and in the future 5G networks bring a promise of new market opportunities, but also the threat of competition and consolidation."

Last year, ZTE unveiled a new strategy to drive innovations in telecommunications, enterprise computing and consumer devices.

In order to drive transformative innovations, ZTE said it is integrating its capabilities in telecommunications networks, mobile devices and enterprise computing under M-ICT strategy.

The white paper urged operators to work together with vendors for reducing the time to market of new products, mine data sources, and operate the network.
