Brighton Information Systems Corp, Paramus, New Jersey, and Toronto-based Multi-Corp Inc are forming a joint venture company to produce and market a Chinese language data entry and translation system developed by Multi-Corp’s subsidiary, Ziran Electronics Ltd. The multi-thousand character Chinese language has been seen as an obstacle that’s slowing the computerisation of China. The Ziran technology is based on the fact that Chinese character sets are built on a limited number of basic brush strokes. These strokes have been reduced in Ziran’s system to a 10-key data entry system which is linked to a translation capability between Chinese and English. The system will be tested by Taji Corp in Peking.
