Zilog Inc, headquartered in Campbell, California has announced high-speed versions of its the Z80180 and Z80181 processors: the Z80180 is shipping at 15MHz, up from 12.5MHz, and the Z80181 is shipping at 12.5MHz, up from 10MHz; based on an enhanced Z80 microprocessor core, the Z80180 includes peripheral features like a memory management unit, two direct memory access controllers, two 16-bit timer channels and an on-chip clock oscillator; the Z80180 combines the Z85C30 serial communications controller, two 8-bit parallel ports, two memory configurable random access memory and read only memory chip select pins and a four-channel timer; the Z80180 is available in a 64-pin, 68-pin and 80-pin versions at $10 each for l,000 units; the Z80180 comes in a 100-pin plastic quad flat pack and costs $14.50 each for 1,000 units.
