ZENTEC TO BUY ALCATEL’s QUME

By CBR Staff Writer

ITT’s Qume Corp, now owned by the Alcatel NV joint company with CGE SA, has been on the block as long as anyone can remember, but finally, now that the business is a shadow of its former self, a buyer has been found. Zentec Corp, Santa Clara, California yesterday announced it had signed a letter of intent to acquire substantially all the business and assets of Qume – but no agreement has been reached on price. Qume was one of the two daisywheel printer pioneers but is now primarily a display maker. Final agreement and completion are expected within 90 to 120 days.
