Zenoss, a provider of enterprise IT management products for physical, virtual, and cloud-based IT environments, has introduced Core 4, an open source IT management application.

Core 4 includes new extensibility and performance benefits allowing it to scale up to 100 million events per day.

With the new release, developers now have the ability to build and test their ZenPacks based on a user’s platform and version.

The company’s developers have upgraded the software’s event system for the new release, which will now use the message bus based on the industry standard Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) to transmit event notifications.

The capabilities of Core 4 include new jobs system for asynchronous tasks, new event management system, Windows Management Instrumentation support, Ext JS 4 JavaScript Framework support, and advanced monitoring for legacy and cloud platforms with continued support for OpenStack and CloudStack.

RelStorage, SNMPv3 trap and IPv6 Monitoring, improved ZenPing suppression, rest eventing API, and new message queue (RabbitMQ) backed multi-stage event pipeline to supplement with full text indexing engine (Lucene) are supported by the new release.

Zenoss technical evangelist and VP of marketing & community Floyd Strimling said: "With the support of our more than 100,000 community members, Zenoss Core will continue to push the technology envelope, provide extensions via our ZenPack framework, and will further drive our leadership within open source IT management."
