Zenith Electronics Corp has now acknowledged that the future of its consumer electronics business is up in the air. The Glenview, Illinois company says that it is discussing with unnamed other companies potential activities to return the unit to profitability, and nothing is ruled out. Wall Street observers believe Zenith may be preparing to sell the consumer business, possibly to an Asian company. The consumer operations, which include the last US television manufacturing business, are now a drain on the profitable Zenith Data Systems.
