Yunnan Copper has migrated its data centre network to switches, routers and security devices running on the Juniper Networks Junos OS.
Yunnan Copper said that the deployment of Juniper Networks EX4200 Ethernet Switches, SRX3600 Service Gateways and M10i Multiservice Edge routers enables it to scale its data centre operations and provide improved services to its branch offices and subsidiaries.
Yunnan Copper produces copper and also gold, silver, platinum, palladium, zinc, molybdenum, selenium, tellurium and other rare metals, non-ferrous metals and valuable elements.
The company said that the Yunnan Copper’s new data centre networks is based around EX4200 switch that has been deployed in virtual chassis configurations, interconnected over 10Gigabit Ethernet, to provide a high port-density, single layer switching fabric.
Juniper Networks SRX3600 Service Gateways provide firewall functionality while the M10i routers support logical routing to optimise the security of links between its branch office and the data centre.
Yunnan Copper network department director Ding Jianhua said the scale and complexity of their operations were putting a lot of stress on their existing IT infrastructure and building a new network was an absolute prerequisite to data centre expansion.
"We wanted to put in a new network that could scale, both in terms of performance and security and Juniper Networks’ data centre offering is very versatile, thanks to its virtualisation features, and has an attractive total cost-of-ownership," Jianhua said.
