YouTube gets a makeover

It has redesigned its website by highlighting channels

By CBR Staff Writer

YouTube has redesigned its website by highlighting channels in an effort to be an alternative to the traditional TV sets.

Its homepage now has channels displayed in a central column. On the right are popular channels and recommended videos have been placed on the right.

It has also partnered with Madonna, Jay-Z, Ashton Kutcher, among others for obtaining content and has created about 100 channels.

YouTube announced the renovation on its blog by saying it was introducing a new homepage, Channel design and a fresh coat of digital paint. It added "More and more, behind every great video is a great Channel, and with our announcement last month that more of them are coming to YouTube, we want to make it easier for you to find and keep tabs of what you want to watch."

This is said to be YouTube’s biggest renovation since it was bought over by Google five years ago.
