Network Solutions domain name registration services will now be featured on most of Yahoo Inc’s portal sites, including yahoo.com. NSI had been advertising its registration service on Yahoo and other portals for some time, but now NSI is getting exclusive positioning on many relevant areas of Yahoo for domain name services. These include Business, and Computers & the Internet, among others. In addition should a user search for terms such as domain names or web address, an NSI link will be included with the search query results. There will also be links NSI’s registration site on Yahoo UK & Ireland, Germany, France, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Australia & NZ, China and Spain. The deal is for a revenue-sharing agreement that will start January 1. NSI also advertises on Infoseek, Lycos, Netcenter and other portals and its ads are rotating on six web sites at any given time, according to Doug Wolford, senior VP sales & marketing. NSI aims its service at small-to-medium business users, as most ISPs already offer domain name registration to individual users and large corporations already know how to do it. But because NSI is still a US government-sanctioned monopoly in the domain name registry business, it gets a cut of every domain name registration done anywhere in the world in the .com, .net and .org name spaces, which is why Wall Street has been pushing its stock up so much in the past few weeks. It closed yesterday up $8.5625, or 8.0% at $115.5625. รก
