Yahoo has collaborated with online-review site ‘Yelp’ to bolster local results in its search engine.

As part of the deal, Yelp listings and local business reviews will be added to Yahoo searches in the coming weeks, which would display key details and star ratings.

Currently, Yahoo uses its own Yelp-like service, Yahoo Local, to offer results for restaurants with a special section of search results, as well as listings, reviews, contact information, and more for even for other location, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Yahoo is currently undergoing overhaul of search technology in efforts to spin the once-leading Internet portal and aggregate more content from around the Web, which could help it distinguish itself from Microsoft’s Bing and compete with Google.

In 2010, the internet major signed a search deal with Microsoft, which provides the company with 12% of the revenue generate by Yahoo from search ads being displayed beside search results.

However, Yahoo cannot cut off its contract with Microsoft until at least 2015, which is the midpoint of the 10-year agreement, when either party is allowed to opt out.

The internet firm reported a 6% drop in revenue during the fourth quarter thanks to a decline in online ad prices, marking the fourth consecutive drop of revenue.
