Yahoo has launched a new service, Yahoo Clues that will provide users with data on popular search terms and trends.
The company said in a blog post that with Yahoo Clues, one can discover and compare trending information for search terms of interest to oneself, or explore popular trending search terms on Yahoo, according to pcmag.com.
Yahoo! has made the beta Yahoo Clues available via a link from the search results page or on clues.yahoo.com.
Users can see default view results for the last 30 days, and they can also change display results to the last week or a day, while they can see data on a 100-point graph, with 100 representing the time over the last month with the highest volume.
Yahoo was quoted by the pcmag.com as saying that income information is available through Yahoo Clues by associating people search with government data on per capita income.
Yahoo Clues shows map views for greatest concentration of user interest, and factors out relative population differences between states to show a list of the top 10, to avoid the most populated areas that always claim the top spots.

The new site provide an option to zoom in and out on a particular state for more localised results.
A user can compare two things, such as Windows Phone 7 vs. iPhone, by entering the two search terms into the search boxes on the left-hand bar, resulting into comparison charts by the new service.
Earlier in 2006, a similar service was launched by Google.
