XyQuest Inc, Billerica, Massachusetts was finally due to release its Signature word processor on Friday, Microbytes reports, but it will be another month before it reaches the distributors because XyQuest is having to reprint all the packaging and documentation to expunge any mention of IBM Corp and its telephone support numbers – and XyQuest was legally blocked from distributing it until it signed the repossession agreement with IBM on October 31: Signature can be bought directly from XyQuest until it reaches distributors, at $500 and $300 for each additional licence; meanwhile in Europe, IBM is expected to take the product and market it – perhaps even under own name – as a successor to its own DisplayWrite; in the US, upgrade packages will cost $100 for XyWrite users, $120 for IBM DisplayWrite users; Windows and OS/2 versions are also planned.
