Boxborough, Massachusetts-based Xyplex Inc, the company that is in the process of being acquired by Raytheon Co, has announced the Network 3000 family of multi-protocol bridge routers and integrated hub-routers. Each of the 3,000 products support TCP/IP, Internet Package Exchange, AppleTalk, concurrent Spanning Tree Bridging, Frame Relay and Switched 56 as standard, the company says. The Network 3400 router and 3410 router are both being pitched at small remote offices requiring connection to a single location, says the company. They each provide a single Ethernet connection, and a Frame Relay and Integrated Services Digital Network Basic Rate connection respectively. Next up is the Network 3500 Router, which is basically the same, but with two wide area network connections providing a leased-line capability up to 2Mbps; options available include X.21, V.24 and V.35. This offering is being aimed at small-to-medium-sized branch offices needing either bandwidth management capabilities to help manage network traffic and leased line costs, with communications to two locations, or a dial back-up to one critical location. The Network 3800 and 3850 Hub Routers are collectively called LAN-in-a-Box systems by Xyplex. The 3800 – again pitched at small branch offices connecting to the corporate network – provides single Ethernet, single wide area network connection, and 12 managed 10Base-T nodes. The 3850 system provides a single Ethernet, two wide area network connections, and 12 managed 10Base-T nodes. This, too, is aimed at offices requiring bandwidth management to help manage network traffic and leased line costs. The Network 3400 Router is priced from UKP1,600; the Network 3410 Router from UKP1,755; the Network 3500 Router from UKP1,835; the Network 3800 Hub Router from UKP2,400; and the Network 3850 Hub Router from UKP2,635. All the offerings will be shipping next month.
