Xyplex Inc, based in Littleton, Massachusetts, has added two switches, three high-speed interface modules and a four-port 10Base-T Ethernet module to its workgroup switch range. The new switches, an eight-port 10Base-T Ethernet switch called the SX-6602 and a 12-port 10Base-FL fibre optic-based switch, dubbed the SX-6611, use store and forward switching, and are said to support full-rate filtering. Up to 1,024 Media Access Control addresses are supported, said the company, and both are manageable through the company’s Simple Network Management Protocol-based ControlPoint system. Both are shipping now, costing $7,000 for the SX-6602, and $13,000 for the SX-6611. The new modules are designed for use on any of Xyplex’s switches, said the company. The additions to the range comprise a 100Base-FX Fast Ethernet fibre-optic module, due to ship next month for $3,500, and a Fast Ethernet 100Base-TX interface, shipping now for $3,000. Also new is a 100VG-AnyLAN module providing one uplink for hub connections, and four downlinks for file server and workstation links. It is due to ship in mid-month, for $4,500. Finally, the company has also announced a four-port 10Base-T module that is designed to increase port density on the company’s existing 16-port SX6601 10Base-T switch. It will ship this month for $2,450.
