Xyplex Inc, Boxborough, Massachusetts has come out with ControlPoint 4.0, the latest release of its Simple Network Management Protocol-based product suite. Chief among its enhancements are a new management tool set, Templates and Aggregates, and an extension of remote monitoring support to the company’s routers. The Templates tool uses a graphical user interface to enable managers to replicate standard configurations by dragging and dropping a set of parameters from one device to another device or group of devices. The Aggregates tool enables users to group both like, and unlike, Xyplex networking devices logically, and configure them as a single entity. Between them, the tools will now enable any combination of Xyplex routers, local area network switches, h ubs and remote access servers to be configured, updated and managed with one point-and-click operation, said the company. The suite extends remote monitoring support to all the firm’s hubs and routers, including the Network 3000 branch office routers and router modules for the Network 9000 enterprise hub. Also, its implementation integrates router wide area network statistics with traditional remote monitoring local area network statistics without compromising RMON interoperability. ControlPoint 4.0 with Aggregates and Templates is out now on HP OpenView- and SunNet Manager-managed Unix systems, and each version sells for รบ2,300. Aggregates and Templates for HP OpenView with Windows will be available with ControlPoint 4.1.
