X/Open-compliant systems should be available some time in August, according to John Totman, Director of European Programmes. We hope that compliant delivery systems will be available before September, said Totman and we are currently putting together a list of products for a software directory of X/Open-compliant software, due out at the end of September. Totman said that the delay in bringing out products with the X/Open seal of approval had been caused by delays in sorting out the legal agreements, which were now making good progress. X/Open’s verification suite, developed by Unisoft Corp under project management from Nixdorf, has been ready for the last two months. Totman also revealed that X/Open would be holding a series of major seminars for European software developers, following its Independent Software Vendors conference in Brussels last month, which was attended by 160 software vendors. First stop will be Hanover, West Germany in September, to be followed by similar events in Italy, Holland, Sweden, France and the UK.
