XO Communications unveils enterprise SIP communications offering

Claims to eliminate need for multiple PBXs and local voice trunks

By CBR Staff Writer

XO Communications has unveiled multi-site SIP trunking offering, which it claims to enable customers to leverage the power of a centralised IP-PBX in primary locations and offer VoIP services to other branch locations across their existing wide area network (WAN) or using the XO MPLS IP-VPN.

The company claims that the Enterprise SIP is a communications offering that gives customers the scalability to transform their distributed voice network architecture to a centralised VoIP offering.

According to XO Communications, the features of Enterprise SIP offer businesses benefits including, lower total cost of ownership by using fewer IP-PBXs to support all locations; reduced operating costs by not having to maintain PRI facilities or local voice trunks at each location; and eliminating the operating expense of managing separate voice and data networks.

In addition, the SIP offers efficiency in network management through converged network operations; business continuity with enterprise SIP connections and the ability to automatically re-route calls to alternate locations, the company said.

Vince Margiotta, vice president of product marketing at XO Communications, said:Businesses are looking to eliminate unnecessary capital expenses and reduce operating costs related to managing voice services and equipment at each location across their enterprise, and XO Enterprise SIP solves these issues with the simplicity and bottom line benefits they are seeking. Control is centralised, complexity is reduced, and the inherent flexibility of IP can extend new features and capabilities when and where they are needed.
