Modem developer and manufacturer Xircom Inc has bought selected assets from Angia Communications Inc, a Salt Lake City-based developer and manufacturer of PC Card products for $2.5m, resulting in a fourth quarter charge of $2.2m, or $0.07 a share. The purchase includes certain inventories and manufacturing equipment as well as intangible and intellectual property. According to the company, the charge related to this transaction, when combined with the one-time charge and anticipated operating results announced in September, will result in a net loss of between $0.47 and $0.57 a share for the quarter, it said.
