Xilinx Inc, headquartered in San Jose, California has a new design software program that assists engineers design logic circuits: Xilinx BLOX is said to reduce the time it takes to go from concept to finished design with field programmable gate arrays; it uses built-in expert knowledge for automatic deployement of integrated circuit features, and enables engineers to access and connect graphical blocks or segments of design functions rather than building each one individually; if a design change is required, an engineer changes the parameters and the design is automatically redrawn; using a familiar schematic editor, users can describe a design with block diagrams, rather than one gate at a time, and each of the 30 logic blocks optimises design performance and density by taking into account the best use of chip resources, system features and area placement.
