Xerox Corp says it will appeal a multi-million dollar jury award accusing it of breaching a computer contract with Sunrise Systems Inc relating to a machine that is long forgotten: earlier this month, a Dallas federal jury awarded more than $13m in damages in addition to court and attorney fees, making the award worth more than $37m against Xerox; Xerox contracted Sunrise to make its laptop computers in the early 1980s, but terminated the contract in April 1984, claiming that Sunrise was in default; Sunrise filed for bankruptcy in 1984 and closed its operations, and creditors, who filed suit in 1986, accused the Stamford company of improperly breaking its contract.
