Xerox Corp yesterday introduced several new products targeted at the small and home office market as well as expand networking capabilities to some of its existing products. Seven new copiers and printer/copiers for the SOHO market, starting at less than $500, were unveiled, as well as two new devices for the mainstream office: the Document Centre 265LP, a high-speed laser printer; and the DC 265ST, a multi-function system for copying, scanning and printing. Overall, Xerox said it plans to introduce 60 new personal and networked products, expand its retail presence to more than 10,000 stores and invest $300m in worldwide marketing over the next two years. It claims to have the top spot in the US retail market right now, and also boasts that revenues from digital products grew nearly 40% last quarter and now outstrip analog sales. In the area of services, the company has launched the Xerox Multilingual Suite, a translation service designed to aid in the authoring of technical documentation in 15 languages. Xerox also enhanced its Documents Direct service to connect centers in 35 locations on five continents and can accept a document from a client’s location electronically and send it around the world to be produced and delivered in the language and format required. In addition to all that, Xerox hinted at some new knowledge-sharing technology in the pipeline, including a knowledge broker universal search technology and knowledge pumps, intelligent agents that will deliver customized content push technology.
