Xerox Corp yesterday duly introduced its first multifunction facsimile-copiers, combining plain paper Xerography with facsimile transmission. The line-up includes two models that operate as full-featured digital copiers. The 3010 Digital Copier/Fax and the 3010 Editor Digital Copier/Fax use laser xerographic imaging to produce high-quality reproductions of documents on cut-sheet, plain paper and do both facsimile transmission and digital copying at 11 copies per minute. Both feature an automatic document feeder, electronic collation, zoom reduction with enlargement and copying from a platen. n the fax mode, they transmit at 11 seconds per page. They also offer dual access to memory, which enables users to copy and fax documents simultaneously. The print-and-scan resolution is 400 by 400 lines per inch, and 64-level halftone control assures the clear reproduction of photographs. They have an automatic document feeder with 30-page capacity. Three-dimensional objects, such as a book, can be placed directly directly on the scanning platen for both copying and fax transmission. The 3010 Editor adds an editing capability that enables users to revise and manipulate images on a document. The 3010 is $8,000 and the 3010 Editor is $9,000, from July. The 7033 and 7032 Facsimile Terminals are full-featured facsimile machines that operate as high-speed hub units for the fax networks of large, multi-site companies, and also function as digital copiers. They can send and receive a standard business letter in seven seconds, using a trellis modem – standard on the 7033, optional on the 7032. The 7033 comes standard with a 55-page memory; options include 1Mb additional memory for 135 pages, 3Mb for 295 pages; or a 30Mb disk for 2,400 pages. An RS-232-C interface for personal computer to fax integration, and an encryption interface are available. Memory can serve several functions, including sequential broadcasting to as many as 149 locations, confidential and public mailboxes, relay send, collective/batch send, remote access via touch-tone telephone to as many as 50 mailboxes and controlled access via personal identification numbers. Documents can be quickly scanned into memory for unattended transmission in the order they were scanned. The Telecopier 7032 Facsimile Terminal with 15 page memory is $4,300 and the 7033 is $5,000; both are out in third quarter.
