Xerox Corp claims its new DocuColor 40 Digital Color Production System is the fastest and most affordable color copier-printer system on the market. It is claimed to be five times as fast as professional digital presses and delivers 40 full-color prints per minute, and reduces the cost of color copying by about 25%. The DocuColor 40 system is $130,000 for a stand-alone system, and is available immediately. It can be linked to an office network, using front-end software from Scitex Corp that publishes in Adobe Systems Inc PostScript format, for another $75,000. Target is a Canon Inc copier that does 30 pages a minute, and Xerox claims its new system is not only faster, but also has technological enhancements that ensure that every page, even on a large printing job, will look just like the first.
